Message from Clive Ennis (President)
The Society President, Clive Ennis, sent the following message to all members by email on 25th March 2020:
I’m sure that you, like me, have been inundated with news, views, do’s, don’ts who is closing, who isn’t, who can work etc.
Well here is another missive which I hope will be useful. As the summer recess has come early and we are unable to have meetings, we are posting all information and updates on our website.
You will no doubt be aware that we have postponed the DBS checks and the Play it Safe course. We are reviewing the AGM in June but it does look doubtful. All the updates will be posted on the MADREF’s website together with information from other sources, in particular the RFU.
It isn’t our intention to flood you with emails so I would ask you to keep your eye on the website.
On a personal note, I should like to thank you for your continued effort this season and I have enjoyed going around to see many of you in action. It is my aim to see every referee and assessor/adviser once during my tenure in preference to visiting each club. I enjoy face to face contact and am happy to discuss any points you wish to raise be it your match that day, your appointments, referee abuse, law queries or simply to chew the cud.
I understand that for new referees some of the challenges seem quite daunting but I can assure you that someone has been through it before and you are never alone.
On that theme, should you wish to chat to anyone in the Society for a catch up or to relieve the boredom, please do so as I’m sure whoever you ring will be thinking the same.
I wish you and your families a safe passage through the present predicament and hope to see you all fit and well when we return to normal.
